broken chains

“Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.”

Romans 5:20

As stated before the 13th amendment to the Constitution of the United States supposedly ended slavery in the country.  It however contained a loophole where slavery in practice could still exist via the Justice system.  If an individual received a felony conviction he/she could be treated in practice like a slave legally.

Although the Civil War was officially over the need for labor to rebuild the states was still needed.  The South was broke. However through this loophole cheap labor could be obtained via chain gangs and other prison-like entities. Many states created laws in an effort to subjugate the newly freed slaves driving them back to their former state.   Hate groups were created such as the KKK in an effort to intimidate the former slaves and keep them from living freely.  President Grant kept northern troops in the south to ensure this new freedom.  Many Blacks were able to make personal progress during this period known as the reconstruction era. However during the election of 1877 it was decided to pull the northern troops out of the south the only protection available to southern Blacks. Subjugation became the rule.  It would be another hundred years or the beginning of the civil rights movement before certain freedoms would be realized.  Up to this point the 13th amendment loophole became the rule of the day.  Cheap labor was needed and obtained using this law. This is still the case today through the Justice system.

I personally believe that through the grace and mercy and foreknowledge of God another loophole had been established whereby one could share in the blessing of Abraham and his descendants. In Genesis chapter 12 verse 3 He promised to bless those who were a blessing to Abraham and his descendants.  In my opinion no one fulfills this more than the African American slaves. The foundations of this country made the democratic ideology a reality. The slaves built this foundation but were never able to enjoy what they made available to so many others seeking freedom from persecution, etc. Jews were at the top of the lists. We through our enslavement gave them a place to go and flourish.  Not only that, but this country has been the main supporter of the nation of Israel in nearly every area. We have been the blessing now it is time to be blessed.  I believe it is going to take supernatural intervention for us to enjoy what we have made available to so many others.

Deuteronomy Chapter 11 verses 18 and 19

Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

I love it when it is Black History time.  To me it is a time for us to celebrate our many accomplishments as African Americans—the good and the not so good.  We need this time to evaluate our goals and directions.  We need to evaluate and determine what our strategies should be for future accomplishments.

More than anything we need to take the time to make sure our children know their history.  We need to make it a topic of continual discussion.  If we neglect to teach our children their history someone else will use their ignorance to their own advantage and our children’s disadvantage.  This is what the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob meant when He instructed the nation of Israel to be diligent in making their history, laws, beliefs, etc. known not only to themselves but to their children on a daily basis.

Please note Genesis chapter 18 verses 18 and 19 which states:

“Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.”

My main focus is on our American enslavement.  I know this is a hard and bitter subject; but I believe that embodied in this cruel and unjust experience is a wealth of blessings that may revolutionize our lives today. We as African American slaves by building this country built a foundation for the nation of Israel and also the world.  These are the true so called (founding fathers) of America. As stated before we, as well as they, have never had the privilege of enjoying the fruit of our labor and ultimate sacrifice.

The God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob made a covenant promise of special blessings that we seek to experience and enjoy, all because  our enslavement have been a blessing to the Jewish people more than to any other people.
