HEY MAN…WHAT’S YOUR PLAN?

consider your ways write the vision

Recently I went to the car dealer to get my car serviced.  While there I began to converse with another customer regarding the candidates for the presidential election.  Like me she was a black woman and expressed her deep concern. She kept saying if we don’t get out and vote we will be in serious trouble. Like so many in our community she was terribly disturbed about the dilemma facing the African American community as a whole, referring to the killing of our people. She kept saying we must get out and vote against this one candidate.

I then asked her a question that I have been asking many African Americans.  If God Almighty came to you because He wanted to help our community, to the complete satisfaction of all that we have faced as a people here in this country, how would you tell Him to help us? The woman looked at me and stated I would tell God to help us be accepted by the content of our character and not by the color of our skin.  Well, after she said that, I wondered how this was supposed to help us.  From what I have been hearing many of the people who were killed by the police had something questionable in their background.  What I have been asking is: “What are your plans for getting our community out of our many dilemmas that we continue to face?”

I recall a statement the Honorable former Mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick, made when he took office.  He stated that during the first few weeks of his administration, representatives from the Hispanic and the Arabic communities ask for a meeting with him to discuss their perspective concerns.  Africans Americans are the largest group in Detroit.  To date, no one has come to present their concerns along with a plan of action to be considered.

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had a plan when He approached Abraham in Genesis 12:3. He had a plan when He allowed Joseph to be taken to Egypt as a slave.  He had a plan when He allowed Jacob and the rest of his family go into Egypt.  He knew they would be ill-treated and enslaved. The same God already had a plan of action to bring them out of Egypt at the appointed time.  Through supernatural means He accomplished their freedom.  They came out of bondage with great substance. The slaves that He freed are still a strong force to be reckoned with today. Even amidst prejudice and persecution they are strong.  He is the same God who promised to bless all who were a blessing to Abraham and his posterity.

No one can claim this promise more than the African American descendants of the slave system here.  Through our servitude we have more than blessed them.  God knew about our servitude and what was accomplished. Like the former slaves of old I believe He has a definite plan of blessing that would be considered a complete and satisfactory fulfillment of this promise.

IF HE DID IT BEFORE HE CAN DO IT AGAIN.

I ask you this question: If the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob asked for your input in order to satisfactorily bless our entire community, based on our enslavement what would you advise Him.  What plans do you have?

Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.
Haggai 1:5

And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
Habakkuk 2:2
