The safety of our community is a HUGE issue.  As a people we have experienced so many useless and unnecessary tragedies.  People are being killed within our community at an alarming rate.  In recent past months we have had babies and toddlers shot and killed.  Senior citizens have been killed in their homes and on the street.  Recently, a black woman literally died from multiple stab wounds in broad daylight on the streets of Detroit.  Rumors say that she was screaming for help and trying to protect herself; but to no avail.  She was approximately 50 years of age.  Our young black men are dying from drugs, alcohol, street gang violence, and every other imaginable vice. Some time ago it was reported that an eleven year old girl was walking to school during the early morning hours as was usual for her when a black man grabbed her, took her and sexually abused her.  He told the young child that she should not have been out there by herself.

We seem to be on a continued path of self-destruction, hatred, and degradation.  If there is anything that reminds us of us or anyone that reminds us of ourselves that object and that person is treated or handled in a negative manner. One of the results of this negativity is that the abortion rate is much higher among African Americans when compared to other groups.

In the Holy Scriptures in the book of Ephesians 6:29 it says, “No man hates his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it.”  The question is how can we stop the violence within our community and bring about an atmosphere of safety to our midst.  When the violence is minimized then we will be empowered to deal with the external issues of racism.

God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob You brought safety and order to a bunch of slaves thousands of years ago. We call upon You now to do the same for our community.  Please extend to us this blessing now in the hour of our need. Please remember how we as African American slaves were a blessing to the descendants of Abraham in accordance to Your promise in Genesis 12:3.  We are in dire need of this supernatural blessing.  No one can do this but You.  Thank You for keeping Your promise to us.

And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their  enemies.

Psalms 78:53 –

Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually.

Psalms 119:117 –

Please note I look forward to your comments.
