“The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.”

~II Samuel 23:3

One of the most favorite stories during our slavery was how the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob sent and empowered Moses to deliver the children of Israel out of the house of bondage referring to Egypt and lead them into the Promised Land.  Moses was a true and courageous leader.  He was a shepherd not a hireling.

The African American community has had many leaders in our quest for freedom and dealing with the many injustices we have had to face. From our African abduction, the inner passage on ships, and throughout our enslavement and emancipation many have stepped forward. Even now in this 21st century we have had selfless leaders who have stepped forward and taken up the mantel to further lead our people to true emancipation. The majority have been killed.  We have also experienced leaders who would be classified as hirelings and self-seeking opportunists.

We have had what the majority in our community feels was a privilege of seeing a black man become President of these United States.  In both of his terms we gave him approximately 98 percent of the African American vote.  Now that his time is ending many are disappointed and feel that nothing really changed for our community.

Unlike the Israeli people, their leader Moses was able to bring them out of their enslavement.  When they came out they were well compensated for their years of servitude. They were all healthy and able to come out under their own power. They had a sense of personal and collective pride.  Their leader was empowered and guided by the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  Even today they are a people of power.  The land that they say their God gave them has been reclaimed by them after be scattered for over 2,000 years.

In contrast, what has the African-American community gained?  Effective genuine leadership is still a problem along with active, permanent results.  We are in need of supernatural and competent leadership in order for us to realize the rights and the privileges set forth by the original Constitution of the United States.

PROTECTION!

Protection is the most important issue facing the African American community today.

While the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob worked on freeing them from Egyptian bondage, He miraculously protected them.  At some point during their enslavement the Egyptians started slaughtering all their newborn male children as a means of birth control.  The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob used plaques and natural disasters to bring their bondage to an end.  However, during this time He again miraculously protected them from these disasters.  He also protected them through their 40 years of wandering.  We are in need of this supernatural protection for our children, families, and seniors.  This same God promised to bless those who are a blessing to Abraham’s descendants. No one in all of history can claim the blessings of this promise more than the African American community based on the labors of our ancestral enslavement.  We are in dire need of His supernatural protection internally and externally.

My prayer to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is:

“Please give us, the African American community the supernatural protection previously given to a bunch of slaves and their posterity thousands of years ago.  You are our only hope.  Thank you for answered prayer.”
